We are playing at the Luton Carnival Streets Festival on Friday 12th July. We will be parading from the Hat Factory to the UK Centre For Carnival Arts (UKCCA) from 6pm to 7pm. Come along for for a dance to some Brazilian beats in the streets!
Here’s a little video we made while in Rio in January. The song is “Steal My Kisses” by Ben Harper.
Thanks to Arte Por Aí for filming us.
The course will teach you how to play Samba and other Brazillian carnival rhythms e.g Xote, Quadrilha, Congo, Jongo, Ciranda plus some more recognisable rhythms like Funk and Rock and Roll. Some songs will also be covered to really get you into the spirit of the music.
We will work towards an end of course performance.
Completing the course will allow you to join the band and play with us at gigs over the coming year.
As Brazil are hosting the World Cup next year, we expect to be involved in some very exciting events next year.
So now is a great time to get involved with us.

After 10 years of playing Brasillian carnival music to the lovely people of Hertfordshire, we are finally taking a small band of drummers to Rio de Janeiro! We will be there from the 8th until the 20th January, and we have a few gigs lined up including performances at Circo Voador and Fundicao Progresso which are two of the best known venues for Rio’s famous blocos to perform at.
With the World Cup and the Olympics making their way to Rio over the next few years, this is a great time for us to stengthen our links with Brasil and help with our standing in the global Batucada community as a legitimate source of Brazilian carnival music.
Are you are up for wearing a fun costume, getting into a character and parading with Toque Tambor on 7th July in Hitchin? We will be teaming up with the brilliant Mandinga Arts who are an award winning carnival company who have toured all over the world. (more…)

We will be holding 1 hour drumming and dance classes as part of our annual trip to Ardee in Ireland. These workshops are for all ability levels.
These one hour drumming and dance sessions will take you on a whistle stop tour of the rhythms and moves which make Rio de Janeiro the worlds capital of carnival.
The Willow Foundation is the only national charity that provides psychological and emotional support for seriously ill 16 to 40 year olds. You can’t run with a drum, but the annual 10k charity fun run benefitted from some additional swing this year. The rhythms of Toque Tambor could be heard round the entire course. Noisy instruments are usually banned from the park. We can’t think why.
Yes! You can actually take part in the world of Brazilian Carnival music. This autumn’s new intake of batuquera have started on their path to enlightenment. Most haven’t played an instrument before, but that’s OK, that is what we teach! Look out for their first parade at the Ware Dickensian festival on 2nd of December.
